The growing trend of leaks in the gaming industry continues.
There are potential Spoilers about the next Assassin’s Creed ahead
Little pieces of information about the next installment in the Assassin’s Creed series have been slowly trickling out in various rumors for some time now. Yesterday, someone obviously in the know leaked out our first real look at Assassin’s Creed: Origins on the Assassin’s Creed subreddit. In the picture, we see the game’s protagonist sailing on a boat currently on a mission to assassinate “The Crocodile.” This picture matches up pretty well with some of the more recent rumors about the game and has been confirmed to be a legitimate leak by Eurogamer.
Assassin’s Creed: Origins, according to rumors, is a prequel to the series set in Ancient Egypt. The game will also once again feature ship gameplay and is supposedly a much larger/Witcher-esque game. A compilation of all the known information about Assassin’s Creed: Origins was posted on Reddit by /u/ummmlolwtf yesterday.
I haven’t even considered touching this series since Assassin’s Creed 3. Aside from the series going stale after years of practically the exact same game, I was really excited for a game set in the Revolutionary War and they completely butchered it. I’ve since bought Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag in a Steam sale per a friend’s recommendation but I’ve yet to actually play it. The series taking a year off has gotten my attention at the very least. I think a big part of the problem with these games series is the annual release pattern. Eventually, you just get sick of playing the same game every year. So I’m fairly interested to see what a little extra time into the game will look like, particularly after having not played it for years. And Ancient Egypt is pretty cool.
Assassin’s Creed: Origins is expected to be officially revealed by the end of the month ahead of its showcase at E3 and released in October.
